Why is it called Sex Wax?Back at the start, Zog asked his friend and artist, Hank Pitcher, to design a label for the new surf wax. Hank went bold and chose the name “Sex Wax” because it sounded phonetically cool. Zog loved it too — it was attention‑grabbing, a little absurd, and a clever send‑up of Madison Avenue’s never‑ending flirtation with using sex to sell things.
Naming the product “Sex Wax” has sparked all kinds of stories — from letters of confused “satisfaction” to surf shops banning the logo at family parks. And you know what? That’s kind of the point: the world needs a little humour, and a solid wax job.
